Day 101 - Deuteronomy 4:44 - 5 & Psalm 101

 Julie

Today's reading was Moses reminding them what he did for them on the mount and repeated the Ten Commandments to them. He continues on to remind them that they will be fruitful in the new land if they will continue the commandments that have been set forth for them. He reminds them that things will go well for them and they will live in that land for a long time if they follow God's commandments.

Today's Psalm is what they call a royal psalm and is one that someone in power would pray to show the type of leader/ruler that they are or will be. It would be great if all they all thought like this.

Today's reading seems a reminder to the people of the commandments God has set forth.  While I remember these from childhood, I got a different feeling when reading them today.  I find myself reflecting on my own life and wondering if I have followed these in a way that would be pleasing to God.

It would be good for our leadership to live and follow in this way.  Something that stood out to me in this psalm is verse 5, "Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret, I will put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, I will not tolerate."  Alot of other parts stood out but this one made me go back and read it again.  Not sure why though. I did look up haughty to make sure I understood the definition and it reads, "arrogantly superior and disdainful".
