This seems to be a continuation of the allotment of land given to the various tribes. At the end of chapter 17, there is a tribe complaining that their allotment isn't large enough.
The psalm seems to be a song speaking about their oppressors and that the Lord had freed them from these people.

I was so glad to see this post today. I am also glad that you are reading as I am not really seeing anything more than what is there. I concur about today's reading...
That is how I read that psalm too. The explanation in my Bible says that it is a psalm of confidence for the community or a community thanksgiving.
