Day 289 - Job 4-5 & Psalm 103

 Michelle

So in this reading, Eliphaz reminds Job that his beliefs and his strengths and his reliance on God.  He is reminding him that he should be calling on God in his times of trouble.  So even a Godly man needs a reminder at times.  That he can get so caught up in his troubles that he needs someone close to him to help him to see.  So even though God has allowed Satan to put Job in this state, there is someone reminding Job that God is the answer.  The beginning is the most prominent to me.  There is a part that says, "Who, being innocent, has every perished?  Where were the upright every destroyed?  As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it.  At the breath of God they perish".  It seems he is reminding Job that if he keeps to God's commands and does what is right, even in times of trouble, and turns to God in prayer, he will be alright.  This made me think of what you wrote the other day about considering lying and how you are choosing to do what is right instead.  Don't succumb to the evil options as they lead to more evil.

As soon as I started reading this psalm, this song came in my head, "Praise the Lord oh my soul, oh my soul, worship his holy name".  This seems to be what the entire psalm is saying.  Reminding us of what he does for us all.

Julie

I was having a hard time reading this one today so I appreciate your insight. It helped me to understand what I was missing in this reading.

I was singing too...
