This reading is more of the same. It is God telling what he will do to those that are not following his commands and that have turned from him. At the end Jeremiah prays for discipline, but asks for it not to be out of anger.
This psalm seems to be asking God to hold the wicked to account for all they have done to their victims. At the beginning he is asking why God has been distant and hidden in times of trouble.

This book seems redundant. Maybe I am not reading it right, but it does seem to be repeating the same things just in different ways.
One of the things that comes to mind when reading this is that it's as if the psalm is conveying the thoughts people have when they are talking to God and they don't feel that he is answering them in their time. So, they question whether or not he is listening. As you said, that they are asking to be saved from the wicked.
