Day 398 - Jeremiah 36 & Psalm 26

 Julie

I don't really understand what the point is of the burning of the scroll. However, after it is burned God tells Jeremiah to write it again and to add that he will be destroying the king and his family for burning the Word of the Lord.

I hadn't noticed this before, but verse 2, "Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind." David actually asks God to test him, which God does do. I know that God does test us all in some way to see if we are being faithful and trusting of him, but I hadn't realized before that David had specifically asked him to.

I don't understand it either, or the way it's done.  But Jeremiah is instructed to write it again.  I just really don't understand this chapter.

That's a very good observation.  He does ask God to test him and you are right that we get tested all the time.  He also says that He has trusted the Lord and that is why he asks God to test him.  Through it all he maintained his trust in God, even through the tests.
