This chapter introduces Daniel and shows his commitment to God.
We should be sharing the Lord with the generations to follow. They gave an example of how that did not happen and when they tried to share with the people later they did not listen or understand and God punished them.

The preface to this book says it is during the time of exile in Babylonia. They are serving the Babylonian king. I think this is where that diet called the Danile plan comes from too. And I recognized the 3 with him by their new names. I recall the pastor at church talking about them in a sermon, I just don't recall the topic. It appears that Daniel has found favor with the king and the chief official.
It does sound like they are telling the story of their ancestors past and what happened when they did and did not follow God's command, and when they whined and so God gave them what they asked and they gorged themselves. We do need to be sharing with the generations after so that this does not continue to happen. I think, as a people and society, we get too comfortable and easily forget things of the past. And while people grow and change, they need to remember that God is there thru it all and that they must continue to worship and praise God for all he has provided.
