This is where Jesus is arrested. What stands out the most in this reading is the way in which he handles the situation. The disciples want to fight and protect him, but he tells them...do you not think that I cannot appeal to my father and that he would protect me? However, if I were to do that then the scripture would not be fulfilled. I must go and be crucified. While they love him they tend to forget that he has the power to save himself, but that is not his purpose here.
The Lord is our rock and our fortress. He will protect us against anything that comes our way and with his steadfast love we can lean on him.

There is a movie on Netflix that I think is called the Messiah. It is a modern-day Jesus story. It tells it as if he came today and how people would and would not believe in him. Or so that is how it seems to me. Reading this section, reminds me very much of that movie. How he is willing to sacrifice himself and he tries to get people to remain peaceful even when they want to fight for him. He knows what needs to be done.
It seems like it says the Lord is our protector.
