Day 598 - Acts 27 - 28:16 & Psalm 40

 Julie

Today's reading seemed to be mostly about Pauls travels to Rome and the people that he was travelling with.

David is talking about how the Lord has helped him and delivered and saved him. He praises the Lord for the help he is given and the protection and steadfast love that he gives. These psalms are awesome reminders of what God does for us.

Today's reading  is about Paul traveling to Rome and what they experienced along the way.  A few things stood out to me, although I don't understand why some of them did.  On the way they experienced a storm, a pretty bad one it sounds like.  They talked about securing the ship for the storm and how they threw off additional weight and passed ropes around and under the ship to keep it together during the storm.  I found that very interesting.  It sounds like Paul tried to tell them not to sail, but they did not listen to him.  Although it's not likely they would have listened as Paul was a prisoner.  During the shipwreck it speaks of how gracious the island people were and that they took care of them.  When they got to Rome, Paul was allowed to live alone w/a guard watching him.

The part that stands out is, "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods."
