Day 281 - Esther 4-5 & Psalm 95

 Julie

Mordecai asks Esther to beg the king not to kiss the Jews.  However, she tells him that she does not have permission to see the king at this time. She does decide to fast for three days and has Mordecai do the same while she determines what to do. She plans to have a feast for the king and Haman and the king offers to do whatever she asks.

This one sings songs of praise to Lord.

Esther agrees to help Mordecai after he shares what is happening to her people and she asks him to fast as she and her attendants will fast.  The sack cloth and fasting seems to be in reverence/remembrance of God, even though it is not stated here.  That was something we had read about before.  Esther does go to the king and asks he and Haman to dine at a banquet she has setup.

I got something different from this psalm.  It seems to be talking of God's anger against their ancestors and knowing that his people's hearts are constantly straying.  It does start out singing praise, but halfway through seems to change themes.
