Day 282 - Esther 6-7 & Psalm 96

 Julie

Haman is made, by the king, to honor Mordecai although he had been planning to kill him. His advisors tell him that if Mordecai is a Jew he stands no chance against him. Esther has her feast for the king and Haman and the king asks what he can do for her. She asks him to save the Jews because Haman is trying to kill them. This angers the king and he has Haman hanged.

Worship the Lord and shout out the goodness and graciousness that he provides.

Haman's thoughts betray him in the end.  He thinks the king is going to recognize him when it turns out it is Mordecai that Xerxes is speaking of and this angers Haman.  Esther asks the king to free her people from Haman's plans, even though it was the king that gave permission for Haman's plan to begin with.  The king has Haman impaled on the stake he set out for Mordecai.  The devotional talks about having the strength to do what is right, even if it means risking your life at times, as Esther did.  The last line made me think of you though.  "Yes, it may be difficult and you may be wear; but 'never tire of doing what is good' (2 Thessalonians 3:13)."

The psalm sounds like we are to be singing praises to God, there is glory and strength in the Lord, let all creation rejoice before the Lord.  For he comes to judge all the earth.
