Day 294 - Job 12-14 & Psalm 108

 Julie

Job is responding to his friends and their misconceptions of why he is experiencing all of these challenges. He seems to be coming out of his self-pity place into a place where he tells them that he knows of God's awesome power and might. He also tells them that obviously since God's hand is on everything and that he formed and made everything that when something happens to them that God had a hand in that. He also questions what happens when man falls, like a tree does he sprout back up if given enough water to grow? He resigns himself to talking to God instead of continuing to argue with his friends and take his troubles back to God. I think that is where this is going.

We can do all things with God in our lives.

Job does say he knows God has a hand in all that happens.  He seems to be wanting to speak to God and I can very much understand this.  Wanting to have an actual conversation and ask questions and get answers and that is not at all how God works.  There is a part that he say, "will you argue the case for God", like he is asking his friends if they are trying to plead God's case to him during his despair.  He also asks God for 2 things and says he will stop hiding from God.  I found this interesting.  It's like he is wrestling with his beliefs vs what is happening to him.  Almost like a struggle of good and evil thoughts.  He wants to remain in faith to God yet is pulled into despair and back and forth.

The psalm seems to be saying that with God all things are possible.
