Day 356 - Isaiah 40:1-11 & Proverbs 18

 Julie

Words of comfort to tell people that God is coming to save them. He will gather them in his arms and carry them with him.

We should be careful of the words we speak. We should not be foolish. We should have faithful and good friends. I think that is the gist of where this is going. I had underlined previously..."A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion." Which is very telling in the way people are acting right now.

This seems to be a reminder of God's comfort to his people.  Verse 8 stands out, "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever".  It kind of reminds me of the quote you keep saying about God's faithful love endures forever.  Has the same feeling as that.

I think you said it perfectly.  It sounds like we are hearing about foolishness vs wisdom and what kind of friends to have.  It also talks about listening, "to answer before listening brings folly and shame".  And I am not sure if it's because of my job but vs 17 made me think a little too.  "In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross examines".  This seems to be saying the first to speak is not always being truthful or is not always right.
