Day 415 - Lamentations 5 & Psalm 43

 Michelle

This one, again, tells of the various trials the people are going thru.  At the end it speaks of how the joy has left their hearts and dancing has turned to mourning.  They ask how long they will be forsaken before being restored to God.  And it seems they are questioning whether he will take them back at all.

It sounds like he is saying he is the only believer in an unfaithful nation.  He continues to call to God though, even though the mourning and grief regarding his situation.  He is still downcast, yet he continues to put his hope in God.

Julie

I did not see anything different than you did in this one or have anything to add.

There is an interesting note in my Bible about Lamentations that says that they are five poems that mourn the fall of Judah and the sin that caused it. 1-4 are what they call acrostic poems which means that each one starts with a different letter of he Hebrew alphabet and are in alphabetical order. I just found that to be interesting.

He does seem to be going through that period where he is questioning why God is allowing him to go through these struggles.
