Ok, so I didn't realize how behind I was until just this moment. Looks like a few extra days to catch up completely. But we continue on.
This chapter seems to go back and tell us about how the people are withering into nothing and how they have nothing and have had to run from their enemies only to be caught and enslaved. It is also warning another city or group, daughter Edom, that they will suffer the same fate.
This psalm sounds like he is saying that he is depressed or downcast and he keeps saying why my soul are you downcast and then telling it to put his hope in God. It seems a reminder that we all struggle with that kind of thinking, when we get down and it's hard to come out of it. He tells himself and us, in a sense, to turn to God. Pour out your soul to God, God is your rock, Praise God.

Me too...I actually tried to start this one yesterday and got interrupted and not able to return until now.
I kind of felt when I was reading this that God was saying you were good people who turned bad and had you not things would have been different. And, yes, it's like it serves a warning to others. Not that they will listen...
I think you are right. I need to do this right now.
