Day 545 - Luke 9:1-50 & Proverbs 20

 Julie

Luke is giving his own accounting of Jesus foretelling his death and resurrection. They are learning lessons of humility as Jesus uses children to show them that the lesser of them is sometimes the greatest.

This reading seemed to cover a lot of different ground. Not to repay evil with evil we need to allow God to handle those things. The Lord helps those that want help and those that walk with the Lord are righteous.

Some of these stories are repeats from before.  Jesus tells of his death a couple of times and feeds the masses.  I don't quite understand the transfiguration.  I think I may have said this before.  The part that stands out to me the most is the end of the chapter speaking about the cost of following Jesus.  It sounds like they all want to get their affairs in order before going on with him, yet he basically says, leave it all behind with no explanation and follow me.  I am not sure if I am interpreting that correctly, but that is what it seems to say.

The devotional with this one does talk about not getting revenge and leaving it all to God instead.  Makes alot of sense.  The verse that stood out to me is, "The purposes of a person's heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out".
