Hezekiah prays and asks God to save them. God agrees as he had promised for so long to do but tells them that they did not always act in accordance with God's rules so he gives them some things that they must do if he is to save them.
We should be righteous, have good sense, speak lovingly and kindly and fear the Lord. We should not get caught up in our own direction, but follow the direction of God.

Ok, I just had to read and re-read this and still didn't understand what was going on. One section is titled "Hezekiah's prayer", another is "Jerusalem's deliverance". So I assume that is what is happening, but for some reason I was lost in this reading.
I agree with your interpretation. It says perfectly what this proverb is about. The verse that stood out to me today is 31, "Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness". So this made me laugh a little cuz I have been thinking about my gray hair and how it is becoming more prominent. But it's interesting that it says, it is attained in the way of righteousness. Like if we follow the righteous path we will end up with gray hair. I know that is taking it a little too literally but...that is kind of what it sounds like.
