The Lord tells the House of Judah that if they don't do justice and righteousness, deliver the oppressed from the hands of the oppressor then the house will become a desolation. A lot of this seems like a reminder that they need to be doing things a certain way if they want to continue the line of David.
A prayer asking God to protect from evil and wrongdoing.

It sounds like God is giving the people a choice. It say he is showing them the way of life or the way of death and they can choose. It then goes on to talk about judgement against the kings and who will continue.
The psalm does sound like he is asking God to protect him from evil. It also asks for God to search his heart and see him.
