I believe he is showing us the obstacles we might face as we are becoming righteous in God.
David's final prayer is a prayer for Solomon to do things the right way.

The section that talks about hardships stands out. I feel like it's telling us that the stumbling blocks in our path were not put there by them or God, and we must power through them and that God is with us through it all.
This psalm sounds like he is praying for the current leader and his son, that they will live and rule with righteousness and do the right thing always.
